Total Joint Replacement Orthopedic Specialist Joins OSM
New Windsor, NY -- September 21, 2010
Total Joint Replacement Specialist Dr. Kelly Stets has joined Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in New Windsor. A native of the Buffalo NY area, Dr. Stets graduated from Duke University with a bachelor of science in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She returned home to Western New York and attended the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences MD program.
After graduating medical school, Dr. Stets went on to complete an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City, which she followed with an adult reconstruction fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital.
According to Practice Manager, Dr. Norman Levine, “Dr. Stets is the perfect compliment to our orthopedic team. She brings her skills as a total joint specialist to our community and will help expand our hip replacement service.”
Dr. Stets has presented at the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons Anuual meetings on such topics as hip fractures and complex revision total hip replacement surgery. Her publications include a study of weight changes in patients after hip and knee replacement and a text book chapter on pain management after total knee replacement. She received the “Outstanding Project” Award for Elmhurst Hospital Center Day of Recognition for Research and Scholarly Activity in June 2009.
Dr. Stets interest in Orthopedics was influenced by her lifelong passion for ballet and modern dance. Her dancing backgroud began at a young age and continued to give her a means of exercise and expression throughout her education. She has now transitioned to a yoga and pilates regimen and recommends an active lifestyle for maintaing good orthopedic health.
Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is made up of Board Certified and Fellowship trained surgeons that cover all diciplines of Orthopedics.
