Foot and Ankle Specialist Joins OSM

Dr. Itingen’s areas of special interest lie in sports injuries of the foot and ankle, arthroscopic ankle surgery, bunion correction and forefoot
reconstruction, Achilles tendon disorders, and ankle replacements.

As an undergraduate student, Dr. Itingen attended Long Island
University, where he was on the dean’s list and had graduated with honors. He then went on to study
medicine at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at Old Westbury, NY. Dr. Itingen was one of the top students in his class and was admitted to the prestigious Psi Sigma Alpha society for his scholastic excellence.

According to Dr. Norman Levine, Practice Manager for OSM, “Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive list of orthopedic specialties by the best trained orthopedic surgeons in the Mid-Hudson Valley. We have seen a steady rise in foot and ankle cases, so it is only natural to bring in a talented foot and ankle specialist.”

Dr. Itingen completed his orthopedic residency training at Peninsula Hospital, a part of North Shore/ Long Island Jewish consortium, and his fellowship in foot and ankle reconstruction in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny General Hospital. During his fellowship, Dr. Itingen had a chance to participate in the care and treatment of local professional athletes and prominent ballet/modern dancers.

Some of his clinical research projects include studies on Achilles tendon disorders and bunion deformities. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Itingen maintains a very active lifestyle. He enjoys fishing, hiking, and gardening. He recommends wearing proper-fitting, comfortable shoes at work and while exercising for preserving healthy foot alignment.
