Surgical Services

The following is a list of some of the surgical services we provide:

ACL Reconstruction is a surgery to replace the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) of the knee joint. The ACL is an important stabilizer of the knee that needs to work correctly for you to participate in sports and many other vigorous activities. This ligament is most commonly damaged in sports injuries. Knee ligaments can also be damaged in automobile accidents, falls, or work injuries.

ACL reconstructive surgery is a major procedure. The exact method of reconstruction will depend on the patient’s individual circumstances that they discuss with their surgeon. Many of our patients recover well enough to walk around after a few days. Several months of physical therapy are then required before returning to sports or strenuous work activity.

If you have an ACL or other knee injury, you may call our offices to schedule an appointment to be evaluated. If you are already considering Anterior Cruciate Ligament surgery, you can see one of our orthopedic surgeons to discuss the procedure in detail.

Arthritis is an irritation and inflammation of the joints. We offer both medical and surgical treatment for this condition. There are a variety of treatments available to alleviate arthritis. Surgery is typically recommended when the arthritis is very severe and when all other treatments have failed. Surgery can range from minor Arthroscopic Surgery up to Replacement Surgery for the relevant joint.

If you think you may have arthritis, you can call our offices to schedule an appointment to be evaluated to determine what is causing your pain. If you are already considering surgery for arthritis, or think that you may benefit from surgery, you can see one of our orthopedic surgeons to discuss any possible procedures in detail.

Arthroscopic surgery is minimally invasive surgery that involves the insertion of a small camera and other special instruments into a joint. Arthroscopic surgery is often used as part of major surgeries coupled with open incision surgery.

Many conditions can be helped by arthroscopic surgery. It can result in less pain and shorter recovery time for patients in some instances.

If you think you may have a condition that could benefit from arthroscopic surgery, you can call our offices to schedule an appointment to be evaluated. If you are already considering arthroscopic surgery, you can see one of our orthopedic surgeons to discuss any possible procedures in detail.

Carpal Tunnel Surgery or Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery is surgery done on the hand to relieve symptoms from carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome is the compression of the median nerve in the wrist. It often becomes noticeable as pain or numbness in the wrist, hand, fingers, or forearm.

Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery is an outpatient procedure. A small incision is made at the base of the palm. The thick tissue that surrounds and pushes on the median nerve is split. This provides more space for the nerve and is usually very effective at relieving the symptoms. The patient cannot use the hand for strenuous activities for several weeks after the surgery.

If the hip joint is completely worn out, this surgery can provide excellent pain relief and allow a return to many activities.

Total hip replacement can now be done with a minimal incision approach that minimizes surgery time, pain, and recovery time. During the surgery, the faulty hip is replaced with a new metal ball and a socket made with both metal and plastic. With the latest technology in hip replacement implants, an artificial hip can last the rest of your life.

Rotator Cuff problems are very common and are especially problematic with overhead sports or activities. Often, the condition starts as tendonitis or bursitis, but eventually can progress up to a torn rotator cuff tendon. Sometimes the tendons tear in a specific injury, but other times they can wear out over time with very little pain or symptoms.

There are many treatments available for rotator cuff conditions. These can include medications, physical therapy, activity modification and anti-inflammatory injections. When these treatments fail, surgery may be considered. Surgery that may be effective include Arthroscopic Surgery to remove bone spurs and worn tendons, and Rotator Cuff Repair where the torn tendons are reattached to the bone.
